One thing you might want to consider doing is signing both pups up to a well-run puppy kindergarten class that devotes a big chunk of the class to play time. Not only will you get a jumpstart on training, but the pups will get important socialization with other pups of different breeds, size, and play styles. Also, you will get to see what normal puppy play and behavior looks like and benefit from the instruction and discussions about behavior with a qualified trainer.
