How Important is Variety?
So I finally found a supplier in my area who sells a decent variety of raw foods for dogs (yipee!). Everything is sold in bulk which is great as I have an extra freezer and find it is cheaper to buy in bulk. My question is if I buy in bulk I won't have that much of a variety on hand and I've read that they shouldn't have 3 meals on a row of the same protien source. Would it be OK to switch between say beef (w/fish) and chicken in a two month period? I could probably throw in some rabbit here and ther but it is awfully expensive.
I also plan to feed a ground diet of meat, bone and offal so I know I will need to give him lots of wreckreational bones to clean his teeth, any reccommendations on the types of bones I should be giving him? I've heard the big, weight bearing bones, like beef knuckles, could break his teeth even if given raw and he's already chipped all of his canines as a puppy when we used to give him the smoked bones from the pet stores =((
Finally, since the ground food contains the meat, bone and offal, could I still give him some fresh liver or heart? Would this be too much? Geez, I have been researching this whole raw diet thing for months and even though I feel more comfortable with it there's still so man questions......
Thanks again
