No more dog park visits for us.
Yesterday was the final straw.
Johann was playing well with the other dogs (only 4 others there). There was a springer spaniel that was very aggresive about not sharing his toys though. Johann kept bugging the dog, so I went to pet him and redirect him to avoid a fight. We were about 4 feet away from the other dog. When I reached down to pet him......the spaniel lunged at us and bit me. Thankfully didn't break the skin, but it did tear my favorite pair of winter gloves.
The best part.......the owner (who watched the whole thing) kept calling me a liar and saying "My dog doesn't bite people". That is until I pulled out my cell phone and called the cops/animal control officer. Amazing how quickly she started to apologize and offer to reimuburse me for the gloves. :lol
Apparantly she has been kicked out of the dog park and banned permanently for the same issue. The joy of small town ACOs.....they remember people.
Since the dog didn't break the skin, the ACO said there was not really any legal action I could take. I was fine, at that point I just wanted to leave and never go back.
Johann was pretty funny. The woman tried to intimidate me into not calling the cops....walked towards me aggressively, yelling, etc. Johann (on a leash at this point) stood next to me growling and snarling. Thankfully he listened when I told him to sit and hush. :lol
There are some crazy people in the world....and they all seem to end up at my local dog park.
