Venting!!!
So turns out that finding the right breeder is harder than i first thought. The first (yes I said first) breeder I looked at had all the credentials, was reccommended by my local association and said all of the right things. However, I contacted him when the puppies were a month from whelping and he said he would contact me when they were born. After about 2 months and found out that they had not only been born, but were all sold!
So I contacted a SECOND breeder. WOW this one was a doozy. Again, I was reccommended this one from the local association and he had put the father over the daughter plus wanted way too much money for them on a limited register. He sent me photos of the poor things and they looked under nourished and full of worms. Then he proceeded to tell me that he had about 20 calls a day for these puppies and if i wanted one I had to do it them and there, needless to say I walked away from this breeder feeling sorry for the puppies I had left behind.
So, now I have contaced a lady who is new to breeding, but has had boxers before, who was reccommended by vet. She is the first of three breeders to ask me to call her and has actually asked me questions, I think I am finally happy and am going to see the puppies in a week! I am tossing up wheather to contact the association I got the first 2 breeders names from and reporting them, the second breeder most of all. Also I am just wondering how much control the associations actually have over breeders doing this to both people and their own dogs!
