Tropical beach vacations are my thing. We usually do two a year. There is nothing better that lying on a beach doing nothing. Check out that website “trip advisor” to read reviews about which ever place you’re interested in. I always use that website and I’ve never had a bad trip.
If price is important you can’t beat Cancun. I have been there several times and have done “all inclusive” down there and for what you get for your money it’s totally worth it. I just suggest staying outside of the “hotel zone” unless you like the "MTV spring break" type atmosphere. We usually stay in the “Rivera Maya” area. One place to start is the “palace resorts” take a look at their “aventura spa palace”. But the last time we were in Cancun there were soooooooo many new resorts pooping up it was amazing. They are definitely moving towards a more exclusive and hip atmosphere. So I’m sure you can find something in your budget that’s also amazing.
I did not feel unsafe in Jamaica but we stayed close to our resort most of the time. There is a really unique place in Negril called “the caves” that is perfect for an amazing honeymoon (Seriously you have to Google it… even if you don’t go for this trip it’s a place to keep in mind for the future). The staff is so accommodating. Everything is done for you. The biggest decision you’ll make each day is which rock to sun yourself on. This is a very different “one of a kind” type place. It’s a little pricy but if you book through a package deal you’ll save a ton.
