If you'll do a search on "separation anxiety" you should be able to find lots of good information about training your dog so they are not so anxious. One of the steps I remember is to act like you're going to leave many times during the day (get your keys, purse, etc. and start toward the door) but don't leave. Gradually build up to actually leaving, but come right back in. Then stand outside for a minute, then 5, etc. Gradually build up until you can leave for 30 minutes, then longer, then longer, etc. Also, don't baby them if they're upset, but ignore them. Pay attention to them when they are not upset.
